What We Believe

All of the Services at St. George’s follow the Book of Common Prayer (Canada, 1962) and the ancient lectionary of the Church.

With all that happens in the course of our daily life, we believe that our worship forms need stability.  We all learn by repetition!   However, this does not mean our prayers should be “rattled off”; on the contrary, they need to penetrate our hearts and move us to deeper love and service for our Blessed Lord.

At the heart of the Book of Common Prayer is the Bible, God’s Holy Word, His revelation to us of Himself and of our human condition.  It is spiritual medicine for our souls, pointing us to Christ who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

What is an "Anglican"?

Most famously, people remember the Church of England as being the creation of the notorious King Henry VIII because of a quarrel with the pope - but there is a lot more to it than that!

For more information about the Anglican Church of Canada, what we believe, how we are organized, and some history, please see these excellent resources put together by our diocese (the Diocese of Fredericton).
