St. George’s began to live-stream Services on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17th, 2020 with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Gradually that effort, which utilized a ‘left-behind’ cell phone and borrowed tripod, became more permanent. With a grant from the Diocese in support of this new ministry, and with some generous donations from the Congregation, and friends of St. George’s, four cameras were added with the audio-visual technology to support them. In May 2021, the opportunity to make Operation Live-Stream a Deanery project was embraced by the clergy, with the following ideals: Ø To promote the life of prayer and the daily reading of God’s Word Ø To reach out to shut-ins and to those who are ‘house-bound’ Ø To serve as a ‘hub’ or center for prayer requests from our area Currently, our live-stream schedule is as follows (with the addition of Compline at certain Seasons): Sundays: 8:00 AM The Holy Eucharist 9:15 AM Morning Prayer 10:00 AM The Holy Eucharist 5:00 PM Evening Prayer Mondays to Fridays: 8:30 AM Morning Prayer 5:00 PM Evening Prayer Thursdays: 10:00 AM The Holy Eucharist In the midst of our busy, fragmented culture, we value the idea of a Rule of Life as outlined in the Book of Common Prayer on page 555. Within that rule, we believe, as Anglicans have for centuries, that the life of prayer is vital to our faith in God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. In the daily reading and live-streaming of the Bible Lessons in Morning and Evening Prayer, we trust that the Lord will honour His promise: “So shall my Word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to Me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 55.11) “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10.17)
